Inkblot Of The Day (Wednesday)

I was quite impressed with your answers for Tuesday's blot.  Of interest were nubilus and Janus Kane.  You have good imaginations, OR you are nuts.  Your choice.  Either way, thanks for participating.

FACTOID:  Hermann Rorschach's childhood nickname was 'Klex,' which means inkblot.  This was long before he entered the field of psychology.

I'm not too sure about this blot; bear with me while I figure out which paper is better for which ink.

EDIT:  If you don't see anything, don't be alarmed.  Some blots just look like...well, shit.  Sometimes people take in the whole image and try to make something out of it, while others are drawn to particular parts of the image.  I thought to highlight this I would include what I saw after I posted it:

One last day to vote on the validity of inkblots in the realm of mental health!  The poll is below the profile on the right.

  6. Actually, before I read it, I was thinking it looked like that. Is that weird?

  7. I was actually drawn to those parts you pointed out in the second photo. Nice stuff man. I thought it was two chicks on a motorcyle with red hair in the wind.

  8. Yeah, in retrospect I should probably not have put my second image up there, so as to not implant that image in anyone's mind.

  9. Even before seeing the second one, I seen some form of grim reaper. Weird...

  10. Not sure... I think I don't really see anything although I can vaguely make a man up looking like he is praying in the white spots...

  12. I see a woman pushing away a man that is crawling at her legs. There is another body lying on the ground immediately below the woman. Maybe he is begging her for something, or she is putting them out of their misery.

  19. I see two powerful white hands squeezing onto a heart until it begins to burst and seep through the tightly interlocked digits. Thumbs up and trapping it into the fist's enclosure.

    Vegetarian, you are clearly insane.

  21. I commented earlier on the fact that inkblots are of little use in psychological assessment, but I think I may have sold myself short.

The tests are, as always, another tool in a therapist or psychologist's toolbox. Another method to get the client to elaborate on their feelings, conflicts (either internal or external), and perceived injustices (always the most interesting). As with most open-ended questions, they're going to answer in a way that they feel would best describe them - not necessarily in a way that best answers the question.

When someone looks at an inkblot, it's INCREDIBLY subjective to say "If you said X, you must be a case of Y", but if you start describing an event in your childhood that could indicate a repressed sexuality syndrome, then we're getting somewhere.

I voted "no" on the poll to the right, but again, I think that poll is a bit 100% one way or another. I think that Rorschach tests should be included, but not to the same degree that they were before - the interpretation of the CLIENT'S interpretation is what was out to lunch for me.

    Michael.

  22. @ Michael - Oh yes, I concur with your concise statements. Particularly about getting someone to talk about things. I shall touch on your words tomorrow or Friday.
Just trying to get one or two more votes for the poll.
    Thanks for your elucidated response.

  23. Just thought about this - you should make a short video of your process of creating your inkblots. I know it may be very self explanatory, but I'm sure some people (myself included) would like to see that.

Random inkblot story - When I was redesigning my parents bathroom one of the pieces of art I put up in their was actually an inkblot. It's got some green and blue in it and I got a very dark blue metallic frame to accent the colors. Next time I'm visiting them I plan on stealing it from them because it looks awesome.
